Carmela Berardi

She was born Carmela Cirasella in Monteverde, Italy to Giuseppe and Maria Nicola Cirasella on February 2nd, 1931. She was the oldest of four children including three brothers, Donato, Angelo and Luigi. She told stories of a happy life in her hilltop town, of family and friends despite the difficult events in Europe during these years. Her Catholic faith and community were her bedrock. She married Louis Berardi on October 22nd, 1953, in Italy, had their son, Michael and came to America in 1954. They lived in an Italian-American neighborhood in Newark, NJ where they had three more boys, Louis, Joseph and Richard.

Carmela is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and her dear sisters-in-law. Her husband Louis died in 1996. In 1977, she lost her beloved son, Joseph, age 18 to a tragic accident.

Carmela is survived by her sons, Michael and wife Clare, Louis, and Richard and wife Cheryl. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, David, Lorenzo and Siena, and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jameson and Killian.

A Funeral Service will take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317, US, on July 15, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317, US, on July 15, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
