

Carmen Suarez, 92 of Plantation, entered into rest on Sunday, May 29, 2016, surrounded by family and friends at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation. She was born on January 18, 1924, in Pedro Betancourt, Cuba to Francisco Suarez and Beatriz Pineiro, the oldest girl of 14 siblings. At the age of 18, she married Mariano Ramos. From an early age, she showed a gift and talent for working with textiles and crafts. She mastered the art of sewing and tailoring, publishing a book, "Sistema Suarez" and opening a sewing school for young women. Her tailor shop, Carmen's Originals, has been a central Broward staple for over 30 years.
She amassed a client base who was faithfully served by her for many years until the last week of her life. Indeed, she lived her life to the fullest, doing the work and things that she loved until the very end. Her legacy of love, integrity, hard work and good character will live on in the hearts of all who had the good fortune of knowing her.
She is survived by two children, Maria Lopez and Francisco Ramos; five grandchildren: Jay Ramos, Michael Lopez, Jennifer Ramos, Angie Ramos. and Eric Lopez; seven great-grandchildren: Carlos, Jose, Daniel, Devin, Isabella, Celestial, and Sabrina; one great-great-grandchild Violeta; and many nieces and nephews from all of her siblings. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South in Davie, Florida. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South in Davie, Florida. All family and friends are invited to come and honor her lovely soul's departure. Carmen will truly be missed.
