Cay was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended All Saints Commercial High School. She graduated in 1969 from Eastern School for Physicians’ Aides, and for 24 years served as a medical assistant for several prominent physicians in New York City. Later, she was an administrative assistant to the Director of Operations & Fiscal Affairs for the Church of Our Savior on Park Avenue in New York City. While living in New York she enjoyed the city’s many educational and cultural offerings, but she especially liked visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway.
She relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 2004 with her twin sister, Marie Argiro. There, she was active in the St. Sebastian Council of Catholic Women. She also supported many charities and enjoyed knitting with her friends. Cay was happiest serving others, particularly the sick and elderly.
Cay is survived by her nephews Kenneth Argiro of Somerville, New Jersey; Michael Basile (Kathryn) of Arlington, Virginia; Barry Argiro (Cindy) of Warren, New Jersey; her niece Cathy McGee (Vincent) of Bridgewater, New Jersey and seven great-nephews and one great-niece.
A funeral mass will be held on February 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 2000 Marietta (S.E. 25th) Avenue. A reception will follow at the St. Sebastian Parish Hall.
