

Passed away June 29, 2011 at Florida Medical Center, Vitas Hospice unit after suffering a massive stroke.
Bill was born in Ohio on September 16, 1928, to Herman and Tessie Boye. Charles was a student and football player at South Broward High School where he graduated in 1946. He also attended University of Florida. Bill was a pioneer businessman in Fort Lauderdale, he went on to work with his parents in the family business they started in 1926, Boye’s Refrigeration & Gas which was later called Boye’s Gas, Inc. 500 N. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, until he retired in 1985.
Bill was a member of the Florida Propane Gas Association and held numerous positions in the gas industry including President of the Florida Propane Gas Association for two terms. He also served as President of the Broward Builders Exchange.
Bill was a long standing member of the Fort Lauderdale Mahi Shrine Club, Member of the Shrine Motorcycle Corp, which drove in the Orange Bowl parades and many other events. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish and York Rites, Kiwanis Club, and Elks Club as well. Bill was head usher at the First United Methodist Church formerly known as Park Temple Methodist Church. This is where he met his wife Marilyn Cornell and where they were later married on April 24, 1954.
Bill enjoyed dancing, bowling, woodworking, word searches, cards, traveling, and spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his wife Marilyn of 57 years, Their three children, Bette Boye McDavitt (Jason), Donna Boye Marley, Charles Fredrick Boye (Lourdes), two sisters Ruth Pole (Ted), Maude Clark (Ron), sister in law Margaret Wynn, niece Debbie Randal (Skip), along with nine grandchildren, Christie Marley Kielty (Jonathon), Joseph Boyce, Jesse Boyce (Heather), Kevin Marley, Jason McDavitt, Jr., Ryan McDavitt, Brooke Marley, Marissa Boye, Olivia Boye, Four great grandchildren, Jackson Kielty, Jason McDavitt, III, Harrison Kielty, Harlee Boyce, extended family, and friends.
We will gather to celebrate Bill’s life with viewing on Friday, July 1st, 2011, 4 PM to 8 PM and Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 2nd, 2011, 1 PM. Both will be at Forest Lawn South Funeral Home “The Pyramid”. 2401 SW 64th Avenue, Davie, FL 33317.
