

He was born in Moultrie, Georgia on February 13, 1923 and moved to Orlando with his family in 1925. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1948 and married Mildred Johnson the following year. They had two children whom they dearly loved; Robert and Susan. He had a long and successful career in the banking industry; serving as President and Director of Lauderdale Beach Bank and, later, Sun Bank of Wilton Manors. He was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years. He was known for his quick wit and cheerful disposition.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and son, Robert and is survived by his daughter Susan (Robert) Mainguy of Davie, Florida, daughter-in-law Diane Burton of Jupiter, Florida and three grandchildren; Amanda, Christopher and Emily Mainguy.
Charles funeral service will commence on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 1:00 at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, 5555 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Interment will follow with military honors in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 W. Copans Road, Pompano Beach.
