Charlie Mae Wood was born in Miami, Florida on July 7, 1967 to the parent of Patricia Ann Wood. She was the youngest of three children. Charlie Mae was raised in the home of her late grandparents Charlie and Ella Mae Wood. Both her mother and her aunt Bernestine were also constant guiding forces in her upbringing. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Crooms Temple C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Dr. Oliver J. Crooms and was an active member of the youth department. Both she and her daughters were baptized at New Life Baptist Church in Decatur, GA under the leadership of Pastor McKenzie Jones.

Charlie Mae received her education from Dade County Public Schools, graduating June of 1985, and attended Miami Dade Community College. During the illness of her grandmother, Ella Mae Wood, Charlie served as her Grandmother’s Caregiver until her passing.

In 1989, Charlie Mae moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed at Macy’s Warehouse in the department of Security and Quality Control. She was a hard worker and believed in providing the very best for her family.

As a parent, Charlie Mae attended various school functions for her children and took a proactive role in the development of them. She not only served as a mother to Crystal and Diamond, but as a friend and protector, as well. Charlie Mae was also a caring neighbor and friend to many.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Charlie Mae was called home to her mother, Patricia Ann and Jesus.

Ms. Charlie Mae Wood leaves to mourn her passing a loving family; her daughters, Crystal and Diamond; her siblings, Lorenzo, Robert (Shawn), and Michelle (Raymond); her nephews Michael, Reginald, Gary, and niece Latwanae; her uncle Charlie L. Wood (Katie), uncle Percy Murphy, aunt Josephine Wood; her cousins Deborah, Derek, and LeShon Wood; her dear cousin Leslie Graham. Great uncle Amos Wood; Great aunts Christine Hood, Willie Pearl Jones, and Evelyn Rogers; and a host of relatives and many sorrowing friends.

Charlie Mae will be dearly missed.

The things my mother used to tell me about being prepared for the real world, knowing that she was never going to be here forever, but to always know she will always be watching me. Things like that is what gives me comfort in knowing that I have an angel that's watching over me and my sister because she was a woman who value being a parent she had to be both mom and dad for me and diamond and I thank her for all of the lessons she taught me!
I Love You Mommy🤗

As a family member via My Ancestor Grandmother Agnes Clover Merrell Jones (Ed), the memory that I Am sharing is limited due to not recalling knowing Charlie Mae.
However, my memory is vast due to personally knowing her bro Lorenzo who is the link to me meeting & getting to know Robert & Shawn, Michael & Chanae & Goddie Andrea Wanza & Diane & others. Prior to Lorenzo, I only knew Bernestine. All of whom, like Lorenzo, are LOVING & kind!

For that I Am grateful because acorns don’t fall too far from the tree! My LOVE & prayers to all of the family & friends! Most essentially, to Cristal/Crystal & Diamond❣️
