In the beautiful land of Haiti in the city of Les Cayes (Aux Cayes) on February 23, 1935 Delius and Olive Laguerre blessed the world with the birth of their son Chenier Francois Laguerre (lovingly known as “Tison”).
Born the third of four children he is remembered by his siblings for being smart, hard-working and mischievous. As a young man, Tison fathered six children and later married the late Jeanine Vilme in 1972 with whom he raised four children.
In 1979 Tison migrated from his beautiful land of Haiti to Brooklyn, NY where his family soon followed. Tison left Haiti as an electrician by trade and upon reaching NY worked as a Maintenance Technician. After a 10-year residence in the big city, the Laguerre family moved to Miami, Florida in the fall of 89. A time when many West-Indian families were leaving the cold of the northeast for a place that reminded them of the Caribbean.
Everyone acquainted with Tison knew that he always had a smile on his face and dancing in his heart, he was a social butterfly, a mellow guy who loved music, and the water.
Tison bid the world farewell on December, 16, 2020 in Miami, FL.
Tison is survived by his children: Paula, Suzzette, Herby, John, Nesly, Harry, Minouche, Ralph, Steven and Sheila. His siblings: Camille and, Romanes and his 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
