Claire M. Ott, 90, passed away peacefully at her residence in Pompano Beach on January 21. She is survived by her husband, Franklin B. Ott, M.D. with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Frank and Claire raised five children: Richard (Wanda) Ott, , Paul (Therese) Ott, David (Debbie) Ott and Cindy (John) Thesing, . Claire was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey. Claire’s legacy as a loving and devoted mother and wife will live on in her 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Claire and Frank moved with their five children from Maplewood, New Jersey to Fort Lauderdale in 1958. A Catholic education for their children was a top priority and they were among the original members of both St. Coleman School and Church. All five of their children then graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School and they became active members of St John the Baptist Parish before retiring to Delray Beach and joining the St. Lucy Parish family.
As a young woman Claire was an RN who later worked beside her husband in his Family Medicine practice in Pompano Beach. She had the ability to make everyone she came in contact with feel special and somehow balanced her career as a nurse and mom with exceptional grace. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have learned important lessons about the values of family and faith from this very special woman.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Marva Williams who loved and nurtured our mother in her last two years.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 on Saturday, January 25, at St. John the Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claire’s memory to the Cardinal Gibbons High School Development Fund, 2900 N E 47 St., Ft. Lauderdale, Fl 33308. Arrangements under the direction of Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
