We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Clarence Eugene Hughes aka Money. Clarence, 59, passed away of cancer surrounded by his loved ones on March 10, 2020 after a courageous 18 month battle in his home in Tamarac, Florida.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandra Hughes, his mother Rose Hughes, his father Wesley Harris (deceased), his children Clarence Jamar Hughes, Rafael Hughes and Tianna Hughes, his sisters/brothers Beverly, Linda, Leslie, Rosalind, Elvin, Jeff, Stevie, Vernon, Dennis, Pastor Denyce, Jeannie (deceased), Nancy, Dwane, Anthony, Wesley, Kevin and Gregory. Clarence is also survived by 13 grandchildren - Alexander, Daniela, Aliana, Emmanuel, Viviana, Gabriella, Mayling, Natalia, Alexandria, Ianna, Alonna, Alonzo, Sariah, 3 step children - Lisandra, Jason, Joey, 2 step grand kids - Janysa and AJ and amazing nieces and nephews.
Clarence was born on September 9, 1960 in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1979. In High School, Clarence was an All Star Athlete excelling in Football, Wrestling Track and Field, commonly being recognized in the local newspaper for his accomplishments.
Clarence's Mother, Mama Rose's favorite memory of Clarence and his teammates is when they would cover her house with toilet paper after winning a sports event. She also shared that Clarence's nickname of "Money" was given to him as a child. His Grandmother would call him "Monty" and Mama Rose changed it to Money."
In 1989 Clarence moved to South Florida and in 1994 met his wife, Sandy. They dated for 15 years and married on November 22, 2009.
Clarence was a great Husband, loving Father and Grandfather. He was a true family man. He enjoyed working as a Director of Maintenance in the Medical field.
Clarence is well known for his homemade chili and sweet potato pies. His favorite color was royal blue and he loved to cheer for his Ohio Teams including the Buckeyes, Browns and Caveliers. After his diagnosis, Clarence never displayed any fear but instead faced his condition with courage and bravery.
During his free time, Clarence enjoyed watching movies, specifically old movie. He loved gaming and listening to all types of music, with a passion for salsa.
He will forever be missed and always remembered as the most loving Grandpa, Father, Son, Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend that walked the face of the earth.
