Pa was born on, November 10, 1939, in St. Ann, Jamaica. He was the third child of seven born to Daniel and Viola Watson. Upon entering his twenties, he met and married Evelyn Williams, with whom he had seven children: Morally (Samuel) Watson, Novadean Watson-Williams, Erika Watson, Darnell B. Watson, Linda Watson, Harvell E. Watson, and Nelson Watson. His extended Children include Charmaine Hart, Sharnele Brown, and Wayne Davis—nieces and nephew who also consider Clarence their Pa.
In early 1970s, he came to the United States and established life for his then wife, Evelyn Watson and forthcoming family. He was able to work with his wife and sister to establish a ministry in which he was the gifted organist for several years.
He and his wife also purchased several properties in Florida, creating a successful legacy in spite of his humble beginning. He became the “Bridge over Troubled Water” for many of his family members immigrating from Jamaica and England to gain citizenship in the United States.
Clarence (Pa) was a devoted family man who tried to listen to and solve everybody’s problem(s). He imparted in his children reasons to worship God, the reward of loving your neighbor as yourself, and the belief of demonstrating care and respect for all people. He fed and took care of the people in his community, regardless of condition.
Clarence Melrose Watson is survived by his seven (ten) children, his brother and sister.
Clarence will be dearly missed.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnsouth.com for the Watson family.
