Darko Barbić

Our dad, Darko Barbić, was born on August 8, 1945, in Zagreb, Croatia, and left this world on December 4, 2025.

He is survived by his children, Ines Lacroix, Thomas Barbić, and Sven Barbić; his grandchildren, Nadia Sabanos and Andrew Lacroix; and his great-grandchildren, Julian Sabanos and Mia Sabanos.

Dad lived life exactly how he wanted — on his own terms, with no apologies. He had a way of making an impression on everyone he met, touching countless lives with his warmth, authenticity, and unmistakable presence. He was an incredible carpenter whose skilled hands built homes, furniture, and could fix just about anything that needed fixing. He worked hard his entire life and took great pride in what he created.

Outside of work, Dad found his joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent countless hours in nature, often in the company of good friends. Those moments brought him peace, and his friendships meant the world to him.

He was never one to sugarcoat his words. Dad said what he meant — always honestly — and that honesty came from a place of caring. His heart was full, his spirit unbreakable, and his love for life undeniable.

We will miss him deeply. But he lives on in the memories we shared, the stories we will continue to tell, and in the way we try to live — with the same courage, authenticity, and love for life that he showed us every day.

A viewing will be held on January 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Broward Burial and Cremation, located at 1801 East Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL 33068
