

Donald Khoury died after a short illness at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida on January 14th, 2014. He was born on September 16th, 1937 in Dover New Hampshire to (pre-deceased) Soloman and Helen (Hajjar) Khoury. He grew up on Algonquin Street in Springfield Massachusetts and lived there until his marriage in 1975. The Khoury's resided on North Street in Granby Massachusetts for 37 years until moving to Fort Lauderdale last winter.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah, His daughters and their husbands: Heather and Stephen Otto & Alisha and Joseph Boucher. In addition, he is survived by his cherished siblings and their spouses, Joan and Frank Daly & James and Linda Khoury, and his brother in law and his wife, Leonard Klemish Jr & Diane Klemish. Donald is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Conor and Declan Otto and Gabriella Boucher. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Donald began his career at The Springfield Armory as an apprentice draftsman from 1955 to it's closing in 1968. From there he worked for Smith and Wesson as a design engineer until 1980 when he left for Colt Firearms to become lead design engineer. It was there that he worked until retirement in 2000 and there where he patented several designs for better hand gun safety features. Donald was a precision shooter, winning multiple first place's in tournaments over the years. Also, Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed and supported the great outdoors. He had a big personality and an even bigger heart. He will be missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for February 15th at 10:30am, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Granby Massachusetts followed by a luncheon at The Cavalier Restaurant in Chicopee Massachusetts. Donations in Donald's memory can be made to The East Quabbin Land Trust (www.eqlt.org)
