Dora was born on January 23, 1939, and passed away on December 25, 2023.
She was born in Havana, Cuba, and met the love of her life, her husband, John J. Bohatch in Havana, Cuba in the mid 1950’s. They left Cuba in 1960 with their first child, John S., to escape the Castro communist regime. Dora and John J. settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they had two (2) more children and where she lived until her passing.
Dora’s husband predeceased her in 1990.
Her half-brother, Nestor Pino, and her half-sister, Teresita Pino also predeceased her.
Dora is survived by her three (3) children, John S. Bohatch (wife, April Bohatch), G. Peter Bohatch (wife, Jill Bohatch) and Monica Bohatch.
She is survived by her seven (7) grandchildren, John, Jessica, Laura, Katie, Jacqueline, Leah, and John Joseph Martin. Four (4) great grandchildren, Adalyn, Hailey, Luke, and Riley also survive her.
She is also survived by her sister, Martha Pino, her niece, Jacqueline Ramos, nephew, Alexander Salazar, grandnephew, Austin Ramos, grandnieces, Kristyn Lovo and Jessica Palazon, her dear cousin, Gustavo Gutierrez.
Dora and John created a warm, loving, and wonderful home for their three (3) children. She would play catch with her sons and enjoyed spending one on one time with her daughter. She was active in school events, and she particularly enjoyed attending her sons’ sporting events. She was a fabulous cook of Cuban cuisine. The Bohatch household was always an open and welcoming place for all her children’s friends and children in their neighborhood.
She was also a loving and impactful grandmother, and had a special relationship with her grandson, John Lind, who lived with her for the last six years of her life.
She was intelligent, extremely funny and loved to instigate discussions with family and friends on matters such as politics, fashion style, and the quirks of life.
She was a beautiful woman and even a more beautiful person. She was a devout catholic (her children attended Catholic grade school and Catholic high school). She was a lover of all animals, including, but not limited to dogs, cats, birds, and racoons.
Once her children grew up, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and playing bingo at St. Coleman’s Catholic Church. She befriended people in need throughout her life and would feed and clothe them. Lastly, she had a special love for the elderly and devoted a good part of her life to caring for and assisting them.
Dora will be remembered by her family and friends with great love. Her family is comforted by the thought of Dora being with her loving husband, John J., in heaven, with them laughing at each other’s jokes and being together in eternity.
