Edie was born to the late Robert and Amelia Cooper on November 27, 1931, and grew up in rural Ohio with her beloved sister Martha. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and became a teacher.
She married the late George Fisher and eventually settled in Plantation, Florida in the 1960’s. They raised two children, Ellen and Greg. Edie taught reading and was active in the community.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, Friends of the Plantation Library, Plantation Woman’s Club, and many other groups.
A memorial service will be held at Covenant Village of Plantation located at 9215 West Broward Blvd., on Friday, September 14 at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Ellen J. Fisher Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o The First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale.
