Edith was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and raised in Aquin. She was the fourth child of Dr. Gaston Salomon and Carmen Castor. She completed her secondary studies at College Jose Marti in Port-au-Prince. She then graduated from Craan Secretarial School of Commerce and Ecole Hoteliere. She migrated to the United States on November 29, 1969 on a work visa. She joined her older sister Maud in New York. There, she first worked as a paralegal for Continental Insurance Agency, and then she worked for the New York Department of Housing until she retired.
Edith dedicated her life to God. As early as 1972, she started her training in ministries. She was an ordained Exhorter who engaged in Christian mission throughout the United States. She stopped when she was diagnosed with cancer. Her faith carried her through her long battle with the illness.
Edith will be remembered mostly for her unwavering faith in God, her dedication to His service, her love of family, her intimate conversations with those fortunate enough to have them, her sense of style, and not least her strength.
