1939-2013
"I shall pass through this world but once, any good thing that I can do or any kindness I can show to anyone let me do it"
A Time to be Born and a Time to Die:
On February 12, 1939, a blessing was created. A compassionate boy named "Emile" was born to humble parents, Meinence Joseph and Thelusma Gesten in Port Au Paix, Haiti. He was the middle child of four children, having 1 brother and 2 sisters who preceded him in death. He was cherished and highly respected because he took the role of being the oldest and was loved by all. Emile known by his family and dear friends as "Joe" was a hard and dedicated worker who drove to achieve his very best. He was an extraordinary man, always going above and beyond to make sure his loved ones were well taken care of. He willingly assisted members of his family and various people that crossed in his path. Immediately you know you have a friend for life. He was known as a person you could confide in and rely upon. Joe was a treasure that was admired and respected by all he touched.
A Time to Plant and a Time to Pluck up what was Planted:
As a young man, Emile "Joe" decided to relocate and journey to the Bahamas where he spent 50 years of his life. During this time, two hearts united, Emile found his soul mate Margueritte in Nassau Bahamas. Their union of marriage was commenced in 1973. The Lord blessed them with six (6) healthy children, 4 boys and 2 girls; Emila, Amelio, Marita, Antoine, Andrew and Mark. Emile and his wife decided to retire and relocated to the United States, they resided in Broward County, Plantation, Florida. His wife Margueritte proceeded in death fourteen (14) years prior.
A Time to Kill and a Time to Heal:
With the joy and sorrow of his life, Emile found immense delight in living his life with his children, grands, great grands, family and friends. Through any sadness, sorrow or pain he would never allow anything to break his spirit. He was a very proud man and truly a beautiful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, family man and friend.
A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh:
On April 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m., the Lord called Emile from labor to reward. Time helps, Lord, but it never quite blunts the loneliness that loss brings. Thank you for the peace that is slowly seeping into my pores, allowing me to live with the unlivable; to bear the unbearable. Guide and bless my faltering steps down a new road. Prop me up when I think I can’t do it alone; self-pity. Most of all Kind Healer, thank you for the gifts of memory and dreams. The one comforts, the other beckons – both halves of a healing whole.
