

Born and raised in Chicago, Gene attended Northwestern University on a diving scholarship and graduated with honors from the Kellogg School of Business. He entered the US Navy and served his country as a decorated Lieutenant in the Korean War.
As founder of Corley Company& Corley Communities, Gene built one of the country’s first golf course communities, Mission Hills in Northbrook. He went on to create award winning communities such as Crystal Tree Country Club in Orland Park, Heritage Creek in Lincolnshire and The Courts and Stonebridge at Conway Farms in Lake Forest. From Lake Shore Drive apartment buildings to seaside luxury condominiums in Florida, Gene built top quality buildings and homes throughout South Florida and the Chicago area. He built his reputation as one of the finest homebuilders in the Midwest.
An avid golfer, Gene played the top golf courses of the world. His talents thoughwere demonstrated as a first class sailor. A long-time member of the Chicago Yacht Club, he won the 1968 Worlds Championship in Star Boat racing. Later in life he captured the National Championship in the Bullseye Class in 1989 and 1994.
Known for his charity and generosity Gene was involved in various organizations in Chicago including Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican High School, The Chicago Boys Club and St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
Gene was the devoted husband of Pauline Corley, beloved father of Linda Corley Lilleeng, Susan Turk and Maria Corley; loving father-in-law of Geir and Rick, proud grandfather of Corley Jean and Landon Nathaniel.
