Gene was born in Cleveland, OH to Eugene Sr. And Vivian Pehrsson on March 26, 1940. He was graduated from University School in Cleveland, attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and was graduated from Parsons College Fairfield, IA. He also attended graduate school at the University of Virginia. Gene served in the US Navy as a fire control technician from September 1961 to January 1966. He married Linda Treadwell on December 30, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA. He worked as a leasing agent and financial analyst. He was involved in US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Division II, based in Washington, DC., and a member of the American Legion, Post 60, Laurel, MD. His hobbies included collecting pocket watches, model trains and boating.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Vivian Stanton as well as his sister Margot Stanton Sloup.
Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Treadwell Stanton, his sons, Eugene Stanton III of Ellicott City, MD and Philip Stanton (Kelly) and granddaughters Alexi and Julia Stanton of Alabaster, AL. He is also survived by his younger brother Paul Stanton of Miami, FL and sister Kathleen Stanton Reid, of Richmond, VA.
Gene’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to his caregiver Mila Mihailova as well as all the dedicated medical personnel from Vitas Healthcare and his many doctors over the years.
