Evelyn Petti

Evelyn Petti,a resident of Fort Lauderdale, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2014 after a long illness. She was in Colorado, with her daughter and family, at the time of death. During the last 10 month of her life she was cared

for with compassion and comfort, by Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, in Colorado Spring,Co.

Evelyn was born December 4,1918,in Wyoming, Canada, a small town outside of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Her family later move to Sarnia, when she was a young girl. She and her two daughters moved to Port Huron, Michigan in 1954. She married Harold Kiley. She was the owner/operator of Kileys Beauty Shop, in Port Huron, for many years. Evelyn remained there, and raised her girls after the unexpected death of Harold in 1960. In 1965 Evelyn met and married Captain John Petti, of Ashtabula,Ohio. They traveled between Port Huron, and Fort Lauderdale, for a few years, than purchased a Condominium unit, and made Florida their permanent home in the early 70's. After Johns death in 1985, she remained in Florida. Evelyn enjoyed being by the Ocean, living at the Intracoastal waterway, and seeing the colorful sunset from the patio.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Annie(Canton)McPherdran, her father, William J. Canton, step-father Alexander McPhedran, brother William Canton, sister Dorothy(Canton)Dawson, all of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie(Kiley)Lewis of Port Huron, Michigan, and Karen(Kiley)Kongas of Woodland Park, Colorado. She has three grandchildren, Deborah(Lewis)Campbell, Daniel Lewis, Kari(Kongas)Moore, five great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. located at 4061 Federal Hwy. Fort Lauderdale. A graveside service will be held at Lauderdale Memorial Park, Monday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. located at 2001 SW 4th Ave. Entombment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donation made in Evelyn's name to Pike Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, Co 80906.
