

Evelyn White was born in Bethel Town St. Ann’s, Jamaica on May 1, 1926. The last child of James and Maybel Palmer. One of 12 children, she was dearly loved by all her brothers and sisters. She is now survived by her sister Ruth Palmer.
She moved to Kingston and had her first child Pauline. She then met her husband Leonard White, now deceased. Leonard and Evelyn brought a family together with his child Pansy and hers Pauline at which time they had 2 children Rosemarie and Charmaine.
In 1977 she migrated to America with skills she had gained as a seamstress at which time she gained a job in the garment district in New York City. Wanting more out of her life she went back to school to become a certified nursing assistant and got her drivers license at the tender age of 50.
In 1986 she moved to south Florida where she worked as a CNA, and sewed for various people on the side. She also joined Unity Light of the World and lived out her life in the presence of God’s love.
Mrs. White leaves behind her daughters Pauline Griffin, Rose Marie Curtis, Charmaine White and her step daughter Pansy Brown. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as 105 nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.
She was a strong black woman, a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed.
