

Gordon Carpenter, 97, passed away peacefully at home on
August 30th, 2023. He was born June 26th, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Floyd Gordon Carpenter Sr. and Viola (Brochu) Carpenter.
Gordon and his sister Maxine, along with their father, left Michigan aboard the "Solitude", and traveled south to make Fort Lauderdale their home.
Gordon served in the US Navy aboard the USS Medusa as a Radarman 3 rd Class, in the Pacific during WWII.
After an Honorable discharge, he returned to Fort Lauderdale where he began work in the concrete industry for over fifty years. He was an integral part of key projects in the development of Downtown Fort Lauderdale and the McKinney Tunnel. In addition to his parents, Gordon is predeceased by his wife Ruth and his sister Maxine Stephens.
Surviving are his Children Mark Gordon Carpenter, Elizabeth Clark and Carol DeMarco. Along with his stepchildren Barbara Lacey, Jane Townsend and Patricia Delsandro.
Gordon was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Gordon and Ruth were active members of Christ Church where services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 16th located at 4845 NE 25th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. Burial to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park, 2001 SW 4th street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315
