

Frances Dorothy White, born Frances Dorothy Streete on February 8, 1933, in Patty Hill, Hanover, Jamaica, entered into eternal rest on September 2, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the beloved daughter of the late Elfreda Streete and Thomas Streete. From her earliest years, Frances carried a deep sense of faith, love, and resilience that guided her throughout her life.
Frances was the proud mother of five children: the late Claudette Joy Butler, Joan Grant, Hubert Downer Jr., Phillip Wray Downer Sr., and Daisy Walcott. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was blessed with 25 grandchildren—Claude, Claudia, Andre Sr., Tara, Owen, Dwight, Natasha, Anthony, Jamali, Nadine, Michael, Duane, Jahmala, Dockim, Phillisha, Phillip Jr., Nastassja, Justin, Tevon, Georgia, Carladee, Carlton Jr., Shante, Naldo and the late Marcus—along with 33 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Each of them was deeply loved by her and will carry forward her legacy of strength, love, and faith.
Throughout her life, Frances built a meaningful career in childcare, where her patience and nurturing spirit touched many lives. Outside of her work, she expressed her love through baking, most famously her Jamaican rum cake, which became a treasured centerpiece at countless family gatherings and celebrations.
A devoted member of her church community, Frances served faithfully as an usher, deaconess, and choir member. She will be remembered for her genuine care, fairness, discipline, and empowering spirit. Her wisdom shaped generations, and her presence was truly a blessing to all who knew her.
Frances Dorothy White, lovingly known as “Aunt Fan,” leaves behind a family and community forever enriched by her life, her love, and her faith.
