George Achenkunju Thomas was born on July 26th, 1942 in Ranni, Kerala to the Late Kavunkal T. George, and the Late Thankamma George. He was the eldest brother to Jacob, Mathew, and Sherly.
After completing his Secondary school at C.M.S High School, he went to S.B. College, Mar Ivanious College, and Catholicate College to further his studies, and work with the International Student Movement.
In 1967, he was accepted into Cedorville University in Ohio, where he studied Education and the Bible for two years. After finishing at Cedorville, he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and received his Masters in Divinity.
In 1971, he went to India and married his wife of 48 years Marykutty, on October 30th. She is the daughter of the late Dr. T. V. Cherian and the late Mrs. Mariamma Cherian. He was blessed with three children, Diana, Toji, and Shaam. Diana married Dr. Ajay Sood and had his first two grandchildren, Roshan and Anjali. Thomas Abraham

Bishop Dr. Thomas Abraham & Family fondly remember dear Achenkunjachayan. He was a loving elder brother to all of us. He was a perfect gentle man and a child of God to the core. He loved the Lord and His word so much.
He spent his retired life in meditating from the word of God and studying it deeply. As a result he was able to publish too devotional books- one in Malayalam and the other in English. The Malayalam book"Jayikkunnavante Prathibhalam"( Reward of the Victorious) was a study based on the book of Revelation. Now at the end of the day,he has gone to receive his reward from the Master for faithfully following him and serving him. The English book"The invisible God and the visible son of God" is a christological book about the incarnated son Lord Jesus, who made God visible in human form. All the pains and hardships he suffered during the earthly sojourn are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed when he sees the Saviour face to face.(Romans 8:18).

Certainly those books will remain as his valuable contribution to the Christian world and his lasting legacy.
We all pray for God's comforting hand on Marykuttymmama,Diana,Togy and their families and to Sham. Also we remember Babujichayan, Sanichayan,Sallymol and their families at this time of bereavement.

We rejoice in the hope of meeting Achenkunjachayan in glory in the presence of the Saviour. We join you in your sorrow and express our deep condolences and unfading hope.

Most Rev.Dr.Thomas Abraham & Family

Presiding Bishop of St.Thomas Evangelical Church of India.
And cousin brother of Achenkunjachayan.

My family is associated with Achenkunchichayan since 1970. I still remember his sermon in Mar Thoma Church'
kumplampoka in 1971 when he returned from
the United States. Few months ago I was given his book on Revelation. Last year my family visited Achenkunjichayan in Florida. Because of previously scheduled commitments I am unable to be at the funeral. His commitment,
dedication and contributions to our faith community will be remembered for ever. Let us
hope that the legacy of Mr. George Thomas be
continued. May the Almighty comfort all.
With prayers,
Philip Thomas, CPA , Dallas, Texas
Treasurer, Diocese of North America & Europe
