Georgina Astacio

She was born on September 24, 1939 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Rosa Romero and Celestino Martinez. At the age of three, after her mother’s death, she was adopted by Jovita Ramirez and Marcelino Robles. She married Jose Astacio on March 21, 1990, and they lived together in Queens, NY before retiring to Hallandale Beach, Florida in 2014.

Georgina was a loving mother and is survived by her three children: Mario Luis Lopez and Isabel Lopez-Henderson of New York City; and Evelyn Lopez of Hallandale Beach. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Sophia Lopez, Jovian and Josiah Henderson; and her two great-grandchildren: Aiden and Layla Juarbe.

Georgina was a kind and nurturing person who worked as a Home Health Aide in New York City providing caregiving services to people with disabilities. Her passion was tending to her garden and flowers and cooking for her entire family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by everyone who knew her. She lived her life with love, compassion, grace and gratitude and has left this world a better place. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 3rd, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens South in Davie, Florida. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life and loving memory of our beloved mother, Georgina.
