Giuseppe Ingrao, 76, of Miramar, Florida, succumbed to lung cancer at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Giuseppe is survived by his life partner and wife Anna Maria of 56 years, daughter Giovanna (Phil) Battaglia, son Salvatore (Laurie) Ingrao, son Vincenzo (Denise) Ingrao, daughter Salvatrice (Andre) Lee Sang, daughter Rose Laffler, son Giuseppe (Nydia) Ingrao, sisters Domenica Ingrao, Maria Ingrao, many loving grandchildren; Angelo, Tony, Stacy, Philip, Samantha, Shelby, Stefano, Joseph, Zachary, Shyann, Ryan, Elliana, Collin, Gabriella, Anthony, Pricilla, Freddy, Athee, Joi Mari, Antonio, Anjolie and Cody, his nieces and nephews in Sicily and extended family in the US, Italy and Germany. Giuseppe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to everyone.
Giuseppe “Nonno” was born in Termini Imerese, province Palermo, Sicilia and migrated to the United States with his family in 1971. He loved to watch futbol, cook, tell stories, and play the harmonica while entertaining family and friends in his home. Nonno’s home was always filled with laughter, love, and delicious food.
This amazing and strong man enjoyed carpentry and worked as a carpenter in New York until he moved to Florida in 1999 and worked as the head custodian for the Lyons Creek Middle School until he retired.
He took great pride in all that he did especially his home garden where he grew zucchini, tomatoes, basil, green beans, rosemary, peppers, eggplant, starfruit, papaya and pretty much anything that had a seed, if he could plant it, it would grow. He had a hidden talent in making paper hats, boats and animals that moved and especially enjoyed playing cards, Scopa, with his grandchildren when they would visit. He also enjoyed telling the most amazing stories of his childhood while enjoying a nice glass of red wine. Giuseppe was always there to help friends with home projects or whatever else they needed him for. His motto was: forte, felice, rispetto, con tutta la famiglia.
A special thank you to Vitas Hospice for their loving care and support and to Forest Lawn Funeral Home for all of the arrangements. Also, a loving heartfelt thank you to all our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers that have shown such tremendous support, love, and encouragement throughout this journey.

Sei andato, ma non ti dimenticheremo mai...
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you, and whispered: “Come to Me”. You did not deserve what you went through, and so He gave you rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. In time we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were broken as you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully from pain, we could not wish you back, to suffer that again.
