Gloria was born on April 8, 1939, the daughter of Orr Adams and Iva Adams. She grew up in Baconton, Georgia, playing basketball, graduating from Mitchell County High School in Camilla, Georgia, and completing her education at Albany Business School in Albany, Georgia. She then moved to Alabama to continue raising her family. After spending four years working secretarial jobs at First Alabama Securities of Dothan, Alabama and the Economic Development District of Dothan, Alabama, Gloria stepped away from the work force for sixteen years to raise her daughter and babysit the neighborhood kids. During this time, she was a public school volunteer, ran school fund drives, and served as President of the PTA. She also led her daughter’s Brownie Scouts Troop. Gloria returned to the work force in 1986 as a Customer Service Representative and Sales Associate at Parisian for thirteen years. She then moved to Florida, and spent six months working at Jacobson’s in Boca Raton, Florida. Gloria concluded her time in the work force after working for 7 years as a Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Meet and Greet Representative at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
For those who knew Gloria, they knew she could make friends wherever she went. People recognized her by her positive attitude and beautiful smile that lit up the room as soon as she walked in. She was a truly kind and generous lady who cared dearly for everyone. There was nothing Gloria loved more than her family, and she touched the lives of everyone she came across. She was beautiful both inside and outside with amazing energy and zest for life. Gloria enjoyed cruising the high seas with her Mother and sister and was passionate about reading, cooking, shopping, decorating, and her pets. She was strong, resilient, smart, and never gave up no matter what came her way. She is dearly missed, and her love will live on forever in the hearts, mind, and soul of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. We will always love you Gloria!
