Greg was born on October 18, 1951, to Thomas Garland and Helen Dippolito in the Bronx, NY. He was one of three children: his beloved older brother Thomas and younger sister Lorraine survive him. He attended Cardinal Hayes High School for Boys on the Grand Concourse and Iona College in New Rochelle. He completed his education at Long Island University’s Southampton College, thanks to a scholarship facilitated by Congressman Timothy Bishop (Ret.), for which he was forever grateful. He taught marine biology at the College, worked at the College’s Marine Science Center and was an audio-visual director of the College’s Fine Arts Theater.
In 1982 Greg founded Sensoryphile Audio Video, Inc (now Sensoryphile, Inc.), a home audio and video installation and electronic integration company, first headquartered in Southampton, NY and now in Water Mill, NY, from which he retired in 2017.
In the early 1990’s Greg bought property on Old Sag Harbor Road in Sag Harbor, NY. He built a home on the property with his surviving spouse Lisa. Here he loved entertaining friends and hosting summer visitors. The place was very dear to him.
Greg was a generous man of strong convictions, seemingly endless knowledge and a sense of infallible logic. He enjoyed playing and listening to music. He was a voracious reader. He cherished the company of his many friends. The world is a less interesting place without him.
Greg’s body was donated to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. A memorial will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the charity of your choice in Greg’s memory would be a fitting tribute.
