March 26, 1930 – January 9, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gustavo Delgado, who
departed this life on January 9, 2025, at the age of 94. A devoted husband
and father, a cherished grandfather, loving great grandfather and loyal
friend, Gustavo's presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of
knowing him.
Born on March 26, 1930, in Manabí, Ecuador, Gustavo carried with him a
love for life that radiated through everything he did. On January 3, 1953, he
married the love of his life, Flerida Mendoza, a marriage of 63 years.
Together they built a beautiful family of five children: Elsie, Flerida,
Gustavo, Alexandra, and Javier; 10 granddaughters and 8 great
grandchildren.
In 1969, Flerida courageously ventured to the United States to create new
opportunities for their family. Shortly after, Gustavo joined her, bringing their
children to reunite and begin a new chapter of their lives. Through hard
work and determination, Gustavo built a life in the United States as a
painter, a career that not only supported his family but also enabled him to
purchase a home and fulfill his dream.
After retiring, Gustavo moved to Florida in 1997 to spend his golden years
surrounded by his family. Those who knew him will always remember his
vibrant spirit, boundless sense of humor, and deep passion for music.
Gustavo brought joy to every gathering and loved nothing more than
celebrating life with those he held dear.
His legacy is one of love, laughter, and resilience, and his memory will
forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved
him. He now joins his wife, Flerida and his son Javier.
A visitation for family and close friends will take place on Monday, January
13th, at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Davie, Florida. We
will gather to honor and celebrate Gustavo's extraordinary life.
