Originally from Westwood, New Jersey, Harry was a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and Saint Anselm College, where he earned a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware and pursued further graduate studies in statistics, operations research, and reliability theory. His intelligence extended far beyond his profession -- he was the person his family turned to when something needed to be solved, and he almost always had the answer.
After college, Harry began what would become a distinguished six-decade career in service to the United States Department of Defense, specializing in weapons testing and evaluation. Trained as a mathematician and statistician, he started his federal service at Aberdeen Proving Ground and went on to lead some of the Army’s most critical test and evaluation organizations.
In 2000, he was selected for the Senior Executive Service, reflecting the high level of trust placed in his leadership and expertise. Over the course of his career, he served as Technical Director of the U.S. Army Operational Test Command and the Army Evaluation Center, where he provided technical leadership for large, multidisciplinary teams and oversaw critical testing and evaluation efforts across a wide range of Army systems.
His work included leading the operational evaluation of Army aviation systems, most notably the Longbow Apache, Special Operations Aircraft, and Kiowa Warrior, efforts that directly contributed to the effectiveness and safety of those serving in defense of the nation.
After retiring from federal service, Harry continued supporting our nation through his work with the Institute for Defense Analyses.
Harry shared a deep and loving partnership with his wife, Regina. They were truly soulmates, rarely apart and doing nearly everything side by side. They loved traveling together, whether for work or for pleasure. Their relationship was one of true companionship, devotion, and unwavering support.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Harry was a devoted New York Giants fan in football and a San Francisco Giants in baseball, a passion dating back to when both teams played in New York during his childhood. Though these were his favorite teams, he enjoyed watching almost any sporting event. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when traditional sports were paused, he could be found watching even the most obscure games just to stay connected to the sports he loved.
His love for sports was surpassed only by the love and deep devotion he had for his family, a value instilled in him by his parents and one he carried throughout his life. Harry dedicated himself to preserving that legacy by researching the Pasini family genealogy and traveling to Italy to trace its roots. He entrusted his extensive research to his nephew, Kevin, ensuring that his efforts would continue for future generations.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Regina Hamby-Pasini; his children, Harold “Rusty” Pasini III (Michelle), Karen Vercella (James), and Douglas Pasini; his stepson, Ken Hamby (Ingrid); and his beloved grandchildren, David Pasini, James “JD” Vercella, Tate Pasini, Samantha Pasini, and Bella Pasini. He is also survived by his brothers, Don Pasini (Denise), Ken Pasini (Kim), and Jack Pasini (Debbie), as well as seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Charles Pasini, Sr. and Colette (Wright) Pasini.
Harry’s legacy lives on through his family, his dedication to his work, and the countless lives touched by his knowledge, guidance, and love.
