Eddie was born on May 12, 1939 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to parents Gaspar and Juana Andreu. At age 7, he emigrated through Ellis Island, and was raised in Bronx, New York until joining the U. S. Marine Corps, in 1956. He served 3 years working as a jet mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1959. He carried a deep sense of pride and love for the Corps and his country throughout the rest of his life. He transitioned into the field of telecommunications working throughout Puerto Rico and Florida where he eventually retired after 35 years of service.
Eddie was a great family man and a loving father. He married Nancy Mercado in 1959 and they had 4 children together. He was a proud former Marine with a patriotic love of Country. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing dominoes, the Miami Dolphins, salsa music, dancing, watching the news, and classic TV. His family and friends will always remember him as the life of the party and the best dance partner to our mami.
