James Ernest Ray Sr, age 79, of Miami Gardens, Florida passed away on Saturday June 16, 2018. James was born September 30, 1938 in Live Oak, Florida to parents, Queen Ola Wheeler and Rollie Ray. He was married to Ethel Ward Ray on September 28, 1970.
James graduated from Douglas High School Class of 1959 and earned a Auto Technician Certification. He had a career as a Technician in heavy equipment and worked for the City of Hollywood. He had a passion for bowling, auto mechanics, motorcycles, racing cars, fishing, basketball, shooting pool and football.
He is survived by wife, Ethel Ward Ray; children, James (Terre), Heather (Harry), Ashley (Orlando), Arthur (Pete) Billings; grandchildren, Vanessa, Jasmine, Myron, Raylin and Orlando Jr.; siblings, Johnnie C Ray and Ulysse Ray; preceded in death by Gwenann Ray Stacy and Michael A Ray.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A funeral service will directly follow from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A burial will occur Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South, 2401 Davie Road, Davie, Florida 33317. A reception will occur Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317.
James will truly be missed.
