

James “Jim” was born to parents Mildred Geier Richie and John Richie in Wooster, Ohio on February 22, 1935. He attended St. Mary School in Massillon, Ohio, Mount St. Francis Seminary in Southern Indiana and graduated from John Carroll University.
Jim was an accomplished creative writer, lover of music, contemporary art and architecture. He had an extensive career in advertising, marketing and sales highlighted by owning his own advertising agency, Monshore Marketing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was an individual who gave of himself to others and who was passionate about helping those in need. He spent countless hours with hospice patients, caring for the sick and suffering and was always willing to lend a hand to friends and strangers alike.
Jim will be remembered for his spirit of adventure, passion for the arts, design and decorating, for his deep love of family and friends and for always encouraging his children and grandchildren to find their passion in life.
He is survived by partner Gregory Powell, his five children; Tom Richie of Pittsburgh, PA, Anne Richie of Milwaukee, WI, Sue Snyder of Tampa, FL, John Richie and wife Joan of Barnegat, NJ, Jules Soapes and husband John of Greenville, SC, former spouse Mary Richie, seven grandchildren; Christopher, Daniel and Andrew Snyder, Michael and Celia Richie, Jacob and Jackson Soapes, sister Joan Richie Little, and brother-in-law, Billy Little of Dallas, TX, niece Martha Little and David Dempsey of Frisco, TX, and nephew Justin and Cheryl Little of Gladewater, TX, and five great nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 between 7:00 pm - 9:45 pm at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center 4061 North Federal Highway Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 (954) 565-5591.
