She was born in Jamaica on December 4, 1950 to Kenneth Wong-Fah and Gloria Blythe. Joan graduated with her Masters in Psychology from Fisk University. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Psychology from Carlos Albizu University (formerly known as Miami Institute of Psychology). Joan had a career in clinical psychology for over 17 years. Most recently she worked with OGCC Behavioral Health and Serenity Community Services both of which are located in Georgia. She also served as an associate pastor at Jars of Clay Outreach in Atlanta, Georgia. Joan had a passion for serving the community and helping others. She had a special and uncanny gift for reaching people in a deep and positive way, and focused a large portion of her time and talents to working with children.
She was survived by her sisters, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins as well as loving friends, coworkers, and clients.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 12:00PM, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home—2401 Southwest 64th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.
