Melillo, John, 97, a long time resident of Oakland Park, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011. Survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Frances, daughters, Kathleen Gosnell and Judith Momyer, grandchildren, Kerry Gosnell and Lindsay Doctor, and great-granddaughter, Kylie Gosnell. Born August 2, 1914 in South Hackensack, NJ to Anthony and Susan Melillo, brother to Louis, Anthony, Joseph, Agnes, and Theresa, all deceased. At the age of 21, he became Township clerk as well as a volunteer fireman. He served in the Army during WWII and took part in the Normandy invasion, where he was wounded. Moving to Florida in 1958, he worked in many different capacities as secretary treasurer and manager. He was an avid golfer and played baseball in high school and in the minor leagues. Services will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1500 South Andrews Avenue, Pompano Beach, on Saturday, September 24th at 11 o'clock A.M. (954) 785-2450.
