

John Thomas Mockler was born on February 27, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Carr and Anna Genser Mockler. He was the first of the couple's three children followed by a son Robert and a daughter Mary. His formidable years were spent in Chicago where he obtained his primary school education.
During World War II, he served four years in the United States Army seeing action in Europe (mostly Germany) and obtaining the rank of sergeant. After the war he attended Northwestern University in Chicago receiving his bachelors degree in accounting in 1950. After graduation, on June 10, 1950, John married Gloria Richardson, whose family he had known for a number of years and whom he had been dating for several years.
On April 1, 1951 the couple had their first child, a girl whom they named Melody. In 1952, the couple moved to Hollywood, Florida where they purchased a home at 825 S. 24th Avenue. They resided in this home until 1991 when they purchased a home at 17400 South West 46th Street in Southwest Ranches, Florida, which they have lived in ever since. In 1953, the couple gave birth to their second child, a son Kim, followed in 1961 by another son whom they named, Michael.
John was employed as an accountant at Kraft Foods / Sealtest in North Miami, Florida from 1952 until his retirement at the age of 62 in 1984.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria, his daughter, Melody Rebholz (who lives in Hollywood, Florida), son's Kim and Michael (who live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida), six granddaughters Cindy Rebholz-Rubin (who lives in Punta Gorda, Florida), Diana Rebholz (who lives in Westbury, New York), Katie Mazak (who lives in Winter Garden, Florida), Jamie Frangiamore (who lives in Deland, Florida), Shannon Gariboldi (who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina) and Bridget Mockler (who lives in Deland, Florida). John is also survived by three great grandchildren, Katie's sons Timmy and Sammy and Diana's daughter, Anna.
