Jorge Arsenio Nunez, age 96, passed away on January 29, 2020 in Plantation, Florida. Jorge is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emerida Nunez, as well as his daughter Carmen Nunez Kuzbyt, and his granddaughters Brianna and Lauren Kuzbyt.
Jorge was born on August 31, 1923 in Habana, Cuba to parents Carmen Requejo and Francisco Nunez and had a brother Armando and a sister Ophelia. In 1953, he married Emerida Ramiz, and in 1957 their only child, a girl they named Carmen, was born. He brought his family to seek better opportunities in the United States, and they arrived in Miami on July 20, 1966. He worked hard as an electrician and was able to give his family a comfortable and love-filled life. Jorge was a social and active man who enjoyed maintaining his home, socializing with his friends and acquaintances in the community, and driving his car, which he kept in pristine condition. His family will always remember him as someone with a genuine smile on his face at all times, always quick you ask you to come in and stay a while. Jorge was blessed with great physical and mental health throughout his long life. Although he answered to many names - Jorge, Papi, Abuelo, Bombi - he will always be remembered as a strong, loving, and happy person.
Jorge’s memory will be honored by his family privately, and his life will be celebrated warmly. Donations in Jorge’s honor can be made to St. Jude, a charity that Jorge supported in his later years.
