Joseph was born on March 20, 1941 in Brooklyn NY to Dr. Joseph and Carmela , being the first born of what would become some two dozen first cousins.
He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Univ. of Pennsylvania in 1966 and practiced Oral Surgery in NY City for 30 years; including his many years of voluntary service for persons with developmental disabilities and mental illness through the Catholic Charities of Brooklyn. Joseph also served as a President of the NY State Dental Association. Joe retired in 1996 and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida eventually caring for Mom near the end of her life.
Joe was a man of rare intellect and compassion who loved the arts; opera, ballet, theater, classical music and literature. And let's not forget his cooking and his joy of entertaining family and friends at his home.
Joe is survived by his brother, John and his loving partner of 16 years, Richard Samu.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00, at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Joe's Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 5:30.
In keeping with Broward County Department of Health Regulations, Social Distancing and masks are required by all guests.
