On February 14, 1920 Joseph J Teddick was born into this world in Olyphant, PA and on Sunday March 3, 2013 at the age of 93 he was welcomed into Heaven by God’s arms with his beloved wife of almost 67 years by his side.
At the age of 18 Joseph was drafted into the Army into the 445th AAW where he served four years overseas fighting with the Allied Forces in WWII. While in the Army he travelled to Germany, Norway, France, England and Luxembourg. Joseph’s time in the Army was a tour which he memorialized with numerous photographs that he enjoyed sharing to tell his story.
After his tour was completed in the Army he came back to the United States and he married Vera (Kosko) on July 27, 1946 in Pennsylvania. They moved to Clifton, New Jersey where Joseph worked as a mechanic for the next 33 years. In July of 1947 Joseph and his wife were blessed with their first child, a son, Ronald J Teddick, and a mere year and a half later Vera gave birth to their daughter, Gloria Teddick.
In 1979 Joseph and Vera moved to Sunrise, Florida where they both lived together until his death.
In his spare time Joseph enjoyed collecting trains, coins, stamps, and toy cars. He was never one to sit around and he was always “piddling” around with something. He enjoyed having one of the best yards on the block and he would spend hours grooming his fruit and palm trees.
Family was also very important to Joseph. When his grandkids, Jackie and Michael, were young he and Vera would drive north to New Jersey to pick them up and then drive them back to Florida to spend a month every summer. These were some of the best times in Joseph’s life, he enjoyed seeing Florida with the kids, taking them to the beach and teaching them to swim.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Vera (Kosko) Teddick, son Ronald (Gayle) Teddick, daughter Gloria Teddick, grandchildren Jackie (Jay) Boyd, and Michael (Amanda) Teddick, as well as five great-grandchildren: Kameron and Colton (Jackie) and Lane, Drew and Allie (Michael). Joseph is also survived by one brother Edward Teddick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel on March 8, 2013 from the hours of noon until 2 pm. Funeral with military honors will immediately follow
