Joshi Harnold Amberpeta, affectionately known as Tunnu, was a caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 6th, 2023.
Joshi was born on June 9th, 1968 in the town of Vikarabad, located in Andrapradesh, India. He was the fourth child of the late Rev. Joseph and Siromani Amberpeta.
Joshi grew up attending the Methodist Boys High School in Hyderabad, where he discovered his calling for music. He followed his passion attending his junior college at St. Anthony’s and completing his music education at Trinity College London.
At the age of 31, he was introduced to the love of his life, Persis Lingala through Vivekavathy Thalluri. The two married and had three beautiful daughters, Jessel, Jewel and Jasmine. Joshi often lovingly shared that it was his dream to have many more children with his beloved, Persis. His heart was always focused on his girls.
As Joshi raised his family in India, he led countless bands, orchestras, choirs and schools through the Centenary Methodist English Church, Stanley Girls High School and St. Marks Progressive School. He glorified God with his music in every capacity. Most notably, he coordinated several musical choirs during televangelist Benny Hinn’s visit to India.
During the fall of 2012, Joshi and his family moved to America, joining the rest of his 4 siblings and now, late mother. Plantation United Methodist Church and The Blake School graciously opened their doors providing employment, education and community to this young family. Joshi worked many years at The Blake School as an assistant teacher and was recently promoted in 2022 as the full-time music teacher where he conducted and crafted original compositions with the student choirs and orchestras.
Simultaneously, Joshi taught piano classes to students across Florida, California and New York. He also launched and conducted the South Florida Youth Choir.
Recently he spent weeks composing a piano introduction for the hymn "How Great Thou Art" which was performed by Asha and Joel Madhukar in March for President George W. Bush.
If you were lucky enough, you knew him for his mutton biryani. The process for Joshi to cook a tray of biryani took over 10 hours and required tremendous attention to detail to the ingredients he carefully sought out. People across the country were astounded by the way the meat so delicately fell off the bone and how each flavor blended harmoniously through beds of basmati rice. His craft in mastering biryani became so widely popular, that often friends and family would urge him to start a catering business. However, for him, his trays of biryani were not a business but rather his love language.
Joshi is survived by his dear wife, Persis, and three daughters, Jessel, Jewel and Jasmine. His four siblings Phebe, James, Angelina and Joel and their families will carry his legacy through music, ministry and food.
God used Joshi's brilliance, compassion and humbleness to impact the world. To honor his life, his family asks that you be inspired to use your talents for God's glory in every capacity.
