Justin Tumlin Bruce, 48, was born on October 10, 1978, in Atlanta, Georgia, and passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2026. He resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the time of his passing.Justin was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Julia Bruce. He is survived by his sister, Erica Royster, and her husband, Jim, of Tampa, Florida, and their daughters, Addison and Caitlin; and his brother, Garrett Bruce, of Houston, Texas, and his sons, Dillon and Brett. Justin graduated from North Georgia Technical College and spent many years working as a welder. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his trade.
Some men are born with the sea in their soul, and Justin was one of them. He found peace on the water and as an avid fisherman, he especially loved deep-sea fishing and was known for being a great fisherman. Whether chasing the next big catch, sharing stories, or enjoying time with good friends, fishing was more than a passion to him; it was a way of life. The waters may be a little quieter now, and the fishing stories a little harder to come by. But somewhere beyond the horizon, there’s a boat waiting, the lines are in the water, and the fish are biting.
An important part of Justin’s life was his long-time involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Through his own journey of recovery, he demonstrated courage, strength, and determination. He understood that a person is not defined by their struggles, but by the courage it takes to face them and choose a better path. Along his journey, Justin was always willing to lend a helping hand, share his experiences, and encourage others navigating their own paths to recovery. The lives he touched and the friendships he built through AA will remain an important part of his legacy.
Justin leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind family and friends with heavy hearts. While his time here was cut short, the memories he created will live on in those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for fishing stories that will be told for years, friendships that will never be forgotten, and an example of what it means to live with humility and gratitude.
Fair winds, calm seas, and tight lines, Justin. You fought the good fight. Rest easy you will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
