She was the oldest person selected and one of the most successful participants in the Dry Macular Degeneration study for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL. Also the funniest patient for sure. She sponsored the two Coast Guard Heroes and family of the Alaska Ranger Rescue to attend this lavish event. The Coast Guard Heroes Petty Officer 2nd Class O’Brien Hollow and Petty Officer 3rd Class Abram Heller battled snow squalls, 30-knot winds and the 34 degree Bering Sea to help save 47 people aboard the sinking 192-foot catcher-processor Alaska Ranger.
