Lois Madge Norris

Lois Madge Norris, age 89, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on Sunday July 8, 2018. Lois was born in Tallassee, Alabama then moved to Dania, Florida when she was a baby. She graduated from South Broward High School in 1948. She was a majorette captain in her senior year.

They were called the High Steppers. They led the band at halftime for the Broward Bulldogs. She also was the Dania Fishing Queen and was congratulated by Congressman Dwight Rogers and honored by Babe Ruth. She moved to Fort Lauderdale where she worked at the Florida Highway Patrol and Broward County Sheriff’s Department where she met William J. Norris.

Lois married and continued to work in law enforcement. She also enjoyed music, dancing and loved being around family. Lois is survived by 4 children Lynn Mack of Grant, Florida, Larry Becksmith of Inverness, Florida, Luann Becksmith of Inverness, Florida and Lisa Surles of Boynton Beach, Florida, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens South in Davie, Florida with Pastor Fred Hodges officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and Candlelighters.

Lois will truly be missed.
