When she met the love of her life Eugenio, a city boy, they fell in love and celebrated 68 years of a beautiful marriage. They enjoyed the good life in Cuba while Cuba was the America’s Riviera, and used to frequent the Tropicana and more, before Cuba became communist. The photos tell the story and are such a gift for their children and grandchildren to have and see. She mostly cherished sitting with us by her side showing us pictures of her life in Cuba.

Maria was a person who lived for her family and especially her two children, Armando, and Violet. She was forced to escape Cuba and bring them to freedom for a better life and she did that well. With the help of family and friends, she worked hard and made a beautiful life for them while waiting for her husband Eugenio to arrive from Cuba.

Her life was complete after he arrived as a free man from Castro’s prisons. Her two children, Armando and Violet, married the same year, and she was overjoyed with these unions.

Her life continued to be fulfilled with the arrival of her grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley. They became her greatest joy. Another important milestone was that she was able to bring her parents from Cuba to live with her, and she cared for them until the end.

She was feisty, demanding, meticulous, and opinionated, but also loving to her entire family. She was healthy all her life and had never been in a hospital or had surgery until the age of 89.

She is survived by her husband Eugenio, son Armando with his wife Patti, her daughter Violet with her husband Patrick, her grandson Joshua and her Granddaughter Ashley with her husband Tony.

We will miss her more than words can say, and she will live in our hearts forever.

María nació en una granja en Cuba, y el hecho de haber crecido como una chica de campo es lo que la convirtió en una persona genuina y trabajadora. Sus padres eran estrictos pero cariñosos y solo querían lo mejor para sus dos hijas.

Cuando conoció a Eugenio, el amor de su vida, un chico de ciudad, se enamoraron y llegaron a celebrar 68 años de un hermoso matrimonio. Disfrutaron de la buena vida en Cuba cuando ésta era la Riviera de América, y solían frecuentar el Tropicana y otros lugares, antes de que Cuba pasara a ser comunista. Las fotos narran la historia y son un bonito regalo para sus hijos y nietos. Le encantaba sentarse con nosotros a su lado y mostrarnos las fotos de su vida en Cuba.

María se desvivía por su familia y especialmente por sus dos hijos, Armando y Violeta. Se vio obligada a escapar de Cuba, los trajo a la libertad, se propuso darles una vida mejor, y lo logró. Con la ayuda de familiares y amigos, trabajó arduamente e hizo una hermosa vida para ellos mientras esperaba la llegada de su marido Eugenio desde Cuba.

Con su llegada como hombre libre de las cárceles castristas, su vida se completó. Sus dos hijos, Armando y Violeta, se casaron ese mismo año, unas uniones que les dio mucha alegría.

Sus nietos, Joshua y Ashley, vinieron a colmar su vida y se convirtieron en su mayor alegría. Otro acontecimiento importante fue traer a sus padres de Cuba a vivir con ella, y los cuidó hasta el final.

Fue una mujer luchadora, exigente, meticulosa y tenaz, pero al mismo tiempo muy cariñosa con toda su familia. Gozó de buena salud toda su vida y nunca fue hospitalizada ni operada, hasta que cumplió 89 años.

Le sobreviven su esposo Eugenio, hijo Armando y su esposa Patti, hija Violeta y su esposo Patrick, y sus nietos Joshua y Ashley y su esposo Tony.

La extrañaremos mucho más de lo que las palabras pueden decir, y vivirá en nuestros corazones por siempre.
