Marion Lois (Perry) Lundgren, 95, of Plantation, Florida, and formerly Scarborough and South Portland, Maine, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2011, after a brief illness. We are certain her beloved sisters rejoiced upon her arrival.
She was born on April 17, 1916, in Portland, Maine, to Harry Earle and Alberta Pearle (Jenkins) Perry. She was raised from an early age in South Portland by her paternal grandparents, Willie Otis Perry and Lois Arvilla (Cummings) Perry. Marion graduated from South Portland High School in 1934. She worked for several years for New England Telephone Company, and then took a position at GMAC where she worked for many years in their business office before retiring. She was a kind, generous, and caring friend to many, and dearly loved.
She and her first husband, Stanley Ricker, raised Stanley’s brother’s two daughters Anita (Ricker) Cloutier, who presently resides in Standish, Maine, and Jackie (Ricker) Oliver, who presently resides in Vermont, beginning in 1945 after the death of their parents.
Marion resided in Florida for many years, and traveled extensively. She visited the Holy Land on five occasions and had many fond memories of these trips. Marion also valued a trip to Sweden she took with her second husband Ed to visit the birthplace of his parents. She and Ed summered at their favorite cottage on Pequawket Lake in Limington, Maine, for several years.
Music was Marion’s great love, and she never refused a request to sing, alone or with her sisters. She attended local churches wherever she traveled, but her home church family was the Lighthouse Covenant Church in Tamarac, Florida. She was an excellent pianist since childhood. Her yearbook write-up stated: “Petite, with a million dollar smile and a voice you love to hear. Time was that a piano was her only love. Tempus Fugits.” Marion played the piano for the Lighthouse Covenant Church in Florida every Sunday until shortly before her death; and for the Covenant Retirement Community church services, as well as for other events. Marion was surrounded and loved by her church family and her friends at Covenant Village of Florida. They enjoyed her hugs and kisses and her infectious smile. She will be greatly missed, but Marion is now enjoying her rewards and family and friends in heaven. Marion knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and encouraged others to follow and know Christ too.
Marion was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; first husband of 43 years, Stanley Ricker, in 1980; her second husband of 15 years, Edward Lundgren, in 2005; as well as sisters Charlotte Conner, Florence Goddard, and Ruth Topping, and a brother Everett Perry. Marion is survived by nieces Gail and her husband Robert MacLean, of Portland, Maine; Ruth Bastarache, of South Portland, Maine; and Bonniejean Johnston of Kissimmee, Florida; and nephews Richard Alexander, of Portland, Maine; and Lester Conner and Jack Conner both of South Portland, Maine; as well as several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Marion’s family extends sincere thanks and appreciation to Pastor and Mrs. David Anderson, Rilla Clauson and Marion’s many dear friends for comforting her in her final days.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on September 17, 2011, at the Lighthouse Covenant Church, 9904 NW 77th St, Tamarac, FL 33321. A graveside service will be held in Maine at a later date.
