Mercedes A Valdes, age 70, passed away on November 1, 2021, in Weston, Florida. Mercedes was born on July 30, 1951 in Sagua La Grande, Cuba, to parents Justiniano Valdes and Petra Martinez Valdes. She graduated from Florida International University in 1987 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Mercedes is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jenny Byrne and Kevin Byrne of Sunrise, Florida; her grandchildren, Lindsey and Jordan; and her siblings, Juan Valdes, Caridad Gomez and Cecilia Nunez and her many nephews and nieces.
Mercedes was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and friend.
She enjoyed the beach, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved dancing, music and playing the piano. Her family and friends will always remember her as a warm, smart, fun and loving person.
A visitation is scheduled for Mercedes on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South from 6 pm to 10 pm, with a mass on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. David’s Catholic Church in Davie, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mercedes’ life.
