1911 - 2013
On July 26, 1911, James Duverney and Josephine Pricilla Hill Duverney were proud parents of this baby girl, and we are sure they never dreamed she would be a Centenarian, even being in the 25th percentile of the oldest, born in the Commonwealth of Dominica. No one would imagine that miracle, but in this case, and for at least three generations we know of, she was the oldest, even attaining a riper age than her parents!
Millicent Ann Duverney Charles committed her life to Jesus Christ as a teenager, and never turned back. She was married to the Rev. Augustus Algernon Charles, who God chose to call home early, leaving three babies to raise by herself, which she did admirably. She is an EXCELLENT Mother and surrogate Father! She always SACRIFICED herself for her children, fulfilling her responsibility faithfully. Sacrifice is the example that Christ gave to us. Mama always took her children to every church service. She kept a great home for us, and we lacked nothing essential. All who entered her humble home was welcome and never left without being offered something to eat, making it difficult not to accept! Arguably, the BEST COOK of organic meals! Yes, believe it or not, ORGANIC started back in those days! That was our way of living! God always provided for our needs! And she lived by God’s Holy Word: “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1Peter 3:8-12 KJV.
