

With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Mettelus, Tima, Pluviose, families announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably husband, generous father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Myrtile Mettelus. Myrtile, 87, of Oakland Park, passed away on Sunday, February 19, in Pompano Beach, Florida.
A visitation for Myrtile will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Berean Baptiste Church, 1016 NE 37th Street, Oakland Park, FL 33334. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 11, from 11:30am-2:00pm with Dr. Elie Jean-Pierre of Berean Baptiste Church, officiating.
Myrtile was born in Pilate, Haiti to Clemeus and Amelia Mettelus on January 1, 1936. He went to school in Pilate, Haiti. He was married to Micheline Mettelus on March 3, 1963, in Pilate, Haiti. He left Haiti and moved to Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos and from there he made his way to the United States where he lived in the Fort-Lauderdale area. In Haiti and in Grand Turk, he worked as a Tailor for many years. His Christian faith was of upmost importance to him along with continuing education, in his mid 70’s he enrolled at Ft. Lauderdale High School to achieve his GED. He was a friend to everyone he met, preaching the gospel and offering his assistance in any way he can.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife, his children and forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Deon Aubrey Hanks, Amos Tima, James, Mettelus, Wesley Francois, Stanley Pluviose, Duncan Tima and Sean Phillips.
The family of Mettelus, Tima and Pluviose wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of his friends, family, loved ones, the people who have shown their love and support, and his Berean Baptist Church family.
