OBITUARY
Norman David Cabrera
December 29, 1967 – January 4, 2021
Norman David Cabrera, age 53, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. Norman was born December 29, 1967 in Palisades Park, New Jersey.
He is survived by his father Felix Cabrera, his mother Darline Autrey and stepfather Frank Autrey, his brothers Robert Cabrera and Edward Cabrera, his sisters Eva Cabrera and Gloria Cabrera-Trujillo, and his niece Christine Mullen. Beloved by his extended family members; the Cabrera’s, the Zeiler’s and the Nuelander’s. Norman is preceded in death by his former spouse Jennifer Gowan.
Norman graduated from Hialeah-Miami Lakes High school in 1985 and attended the University of Florida where he earned under-graduate and advanced degrees in Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He began his career performing laboratory and field work, while teaching at the University of Florida. He then worked as a System Engineer for Pitney Bowes, which located him in San Francisco, CA, where he met his wife-to-be Jennifer Gowan.
Norman and Jennifer moved to West Palm Beach, FL in the year 2004 and were married. There he began his career in architectural design and structural engineering working for Coral Key Designs. He then earned Professional Engineering certifications and worked in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC before returning to Florida to rejoin his long-time friend Mark Jenkins at Coral Key Designs.
Norman enjoyed learning and was a voracious reader. Science and technology fascinated him, and science fiction entertained him. His family will always remember Norman as a sensitive person, gentle and loving. His friends will remember him as loyal and sincere. He always made the effort to attend family events and milestones and keep in contact with family members. We can honor Norman’s memory by giving to charities that support the homeless, a cause that Norman supported.

Norm and I dated back in college from approximately 1988-1989. After that, we remained friends all these years. I considered him one of my very few "life-long friends." I will miss him so much! I LOVE YOU, NORM!!

The fun time we had after Christine's wedding when we hung out on the patio in the cold and shared stories from our past with all of our friends and family. We laughed a lot that night. It was a special moment.
