Patrick Kevin Smyth of Davie, Fla., passed away peacefully on Feb. 26 at the age of 69 surrounded by his family. Born on Jan. 23, 1952, in New York City, Patrick lived a full and rewarding life with his immediate family, relatives, friends and business associates.
Survived by his wife, Francesca, of 43 years, Patrick leaves behind his daughter Diana (Will) and son Patrick (Leslie). He is also survived by his sister Lillian; grandchildren Claire & Brady (Diana) and Patrick (Patrick); and many nieces and nephews.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father Thomas, mother Lillian, brother Thomas and sister Eileen.
A proud graduate of Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y., Patrick enjoyed a highly successful career while raising his family in New York, Wilmington, Del., Paris, and South Florida. An avid swimmer, Patrick loved the ocean—especially surfing, body boarding and sitting on the beach—and was a former lifeguard. He enjoyed reading, bicycling, traveling and spending time with his wife and children.
An accomplished international business development executive in the corporate insurance industry, Patrick had an unmatched work-ethic—with a great sense of humor—and was deeply committed to providing for his family. He traveled the world for business and took many adventures with his family and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patrick’s honor to the American Diabetes Association.
