Peggy Fox

Peggy Shepherd Fox passed away peacefully on July 2, 2014. Peggy was born in Thomasville, Georgia on February 11, 1920 to the late Mattie and Samuel Shepherd. Residing in Fort Lauderdale since 1953, Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Corliss Fox; her sister, Lois Evelyn Parenti; and her brother, Ray Lamar Shepherd.

She is survived by her devoted children, Barbara Fox Hollowell (Sam) and John Corliss Fox, Jr. (Sheila); her loving grandchildren, Suzanne Hollowell McCawley (Paul), Caroline Hollowell Showers (Josh), and John Corliss Fox III; and her five great-grandchildren whom she adored, Samuel Thomas McCawley, Patrick Branton McCawley, Evelyn Hollowell McCawley, Ashlyn Hollowell Showers, and Lauren Caroline Showers.

Peggy was involved in various community activities for many years. She held leadership positions in the Children’s Opportunity Group and the Bonnet House Alliance. She was a long standing member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale and of the Lauderdale Yacht Club. She enjoyed the love of her family, her friends and her caregivers. Peggy was deeply committed to her family, and took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy had a love of fashion and cards. She especially loved playing bridge with her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Scholarship Program at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, 401 SE 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. A private memorial service was held on July 5, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale.
